This is the story of our dog named Bear. Our kids loved to feed Bear, but he gained too much weight as a result. Hopefully, this story can help discourage kids from feeding dogs too much people food.

I got this book for my 3 1/2 year old daughter. We have a 1 1/2 year old bichon who is her best bud. Of course, that was greatly encouraged by her sharing her yummies with him! So now we have a not-so-little bichon who likes to beg for food, or at the very least, wait expectantly under his BFF's chair at dinner. After reading this book to her, my daughter hasn't been feeding Buster at all, as a matter of fact, she's become the "food police" as far as he's concerned, busting her big brother several times for sharing bits of his snack or what's on his plate. She's a sassy little girl, to say the least, so when she puts her hands on her hips and yells at her big brother "Hey! Don't feed Buster people food! You'll make him fat!" its all I can do to keep a straight face and say "Yep! That's right!" and give her a little high-five. :) I've told her many times in the past to not feed Buster, but I guess it's different when the book says so. Ha!Thanks Cheryl!

My Dog is Too Fat Cheryl Gress 9781935105435 Books Reviews
It's great to finally find an adorable book that is a fun way to teach kids the proper way to care for their dogs. I hope they come out with more. My kids love this one )
My little boy loves hearing me read it. When we get to the part of Bear not eating people's food, he points at it and says "NO NO".
I just want to warn potential buyers that this book is a paperback. I won't say anymore because it would be biased. ;)
My Dog Is Too Fat, by Cheryl Gress, is the perfect book for children with a dog. It'll teach them how to feed the dog and let them know what happens if they feed it too much "people" food. The author writes this book in a way that makes it fun for children to read. It's not written in a pushy manner, and the rhyming qualities makes it that much easier for children to remember. This book definitely belongs in the hands of a young child with a dog. I even know some adults that could benefit from a book like this.
Awesome book.
Up and coming author and expert web-site manager Cheryl Gress makes her debut with 'My Dog Is Too Fat', a self explanatory kids' story that vividly explains to children the importance of what "man's best friend", aka our beloved dogs, should and should not eat, all while keeping things fresh and fun with cute illustrations that keep even the most fidgety kids interested. Vibrant and bright, kids will want to hear it again and again. And, most likely, again! A great bedtime story, and a perfect book for the young reader who is just learning how to make sense of the strange markings we call words. Excellent.
The only bad thing is that it's really underappreciated...as are some of the best things in existence.
